Welcome to the League of Women Voters of Darien
The League of Women Voters is a national, non-partisan, political organization that encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in their government.
“Democracy is Not a Spectator Sport, let YOUR Voice Be Heard!”
What we do for Darien.
- At election time we prepare a nonpartisan Voters Guide, including all local and state candidates, that is printed in the town newspaper.
- We present Candidate debates for all local offices.
- We print and distribute Government Guide to inform citizens about who represents them.
- We print and distribute Guide to the RTM to encourage citizen participation and knowledge.
- We print and distribute Know Your Town a reference guide of town government, town services, and community and civic organizations.
- We also provide publications at the Library and Town Hall on state government and state issues.
- We have a local website for information on current issues and schedules.
How you can make a difference:
- By voting in every election
- By nominating and electing representatives who reflect your point of view
- By reading the local newspapers and attending public meetings to develop informed opinions
- By advising government representatives of your views
- By joining with others in community organizations
- By becoming a candidate for government office.
